Carne Crudo – Oh My!

We eat dinner at Dopo on Piedmont Ave. tonight. I think we end up there about once a week, maybe every two weeks. Too often but it’s become a comfort spot for us. Tonight he had rockfish and fennel soup which was a lovely broth (tomato puree?) with a light fish essence. I really enjoyed my spaghetti with braised octopus and mint. But the hit, for me, was the carne crudo with farm egg. I am a sucker for eggs on top — tobiko with a quail egg, count me in! The carne crudo has a beautiful red hue, shiny and healthy and brick red with a beautiful sunshine egg yolk on top. The yolk is thick and spreads evenly when broken. Yum.
